The Dreamer – 2008 – Hybrid on Paper – 14.75″H x 16″W
While I painted the landscape in the morning light on a family trip in Alaska, my brother took a nap and I took a photograph of him lying there. He works in Alaska as a psychologist with strong interest in Jung and dreams, so I decided to use his doubled image to evoke the sensation of a layered experience in which things float in and out of focus. He is simultaneously removed from and part of the scene.
